Silvia Renee Ware Thompson

Silvia Renee Ware-Thompson, daughter of the late Leslie A. Ware Sr. and the late Ernestine Shepherd- Ware, was born Friday, December 3, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, the sixth of seven children. Educated in the Harrisburg School District, Silvia attended Lincoln Elementary School, Woodward Elementary School and graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1984. After her high school graduation, Silvia enlisted in the United States Air Force and then the Air National Guard. Thereafter, she attended Empire Beauty School for Cosmetology advancing from student to teacher. Silvia’s employment path included the United States Postal Service, the New Cumberland Army Depot and the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot totaling nineteen years of federal service. After meeting the love-of-her-life in the person of Mark A. Thompson Sr., Silvia and Mark were married on April 18, 1987. Their love story was blessed with the birth of two sons, Mark Jr. and Ryan Rashad. Their marriage was EPIC with a thirty-eight-year span. Unfortunately, Silvia did not live to celebrate this milestone. Leisurely, Silvia stayed in contact with family and friends via her phone and tablet as her health did not permit her to visit. She loved to shop online with sites like Amazon, Overstock, Coach Outlets and Etsy. She furnished her entire home shopping online. Silvia was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan having several Steelers items in her home from flipflops, shirts, jerseys, pajamas, hats and blankets. She made known her love of the Steelers on her Facebook Page and would block anyone who posted negative comments. As Mark would say, “She don’t play about her Steelers.” Silvia was a great cook and loved seafood, porgies, crab legs, scallops and shrimps. She will truly be missed at every family function and the Harrisburg High, Class of 1984, events. While at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in the loving presence of her husband Mark of thirty-eight years holding her hands, Silvia Renee Ware-Thompson entered eternal rest at 1:45 A.M. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Ernestine Shepherd-Ware; and two sisters, Theresa D. Ware-Powell “Tence” (oldest) and Vicki Davenport. Silvia’s bright light will continue to shine in the hearts of her devoted husband, Mark A. Thompson Sr.; sons, Mark A. Thompson Jr. and Ryan R. Thompson; her siblings, Leslie A. Ware Jr. (Huss), Regina Carney, Reginald Ware and Rodney Ware Sr. (Juanita); uncle, Kevin Shepherd; three grandchildren, six godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and her classmates of Harrisburg High, Class of 1984. Interment, Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
