James L. Crawford Sr. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ James, son of the late Roosevelt Crawford Sr. and the late Jessie Mae Thompson, was born in Harrisburg, PA, on July 20, 1936. On November 4, 2016, while at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA, James completed his earthly journey, peacefully passing from this life to the reward of eternal life. James was a member of Christian Insight Church. He was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost on January 18, 1987, in Sacramento, CA. James received his formal education in the public schools of Harrisburg, and served honorably in the United States Army. He retired from the Harrisburg School District as a Food Service Coordinator. In addition, he spent most of his time as a Self-employed Contractor. James’ relaxation were family events, reading his Bible, fishing, attending auctions, pursuing his real estate interests and purchasing automobiles. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frisby Thompson Sr.; his daughter, Cheryl L. Crawford; three sisters, Shirley Mae Crawford, Mildred Stern and Helen Crawford; two brothers, Ernest Crawford and Melvin Thompson Sr. His memory will always be cherished by his remaining five children, Tonya Crawford, James Crawford Jr. (Lori), Dana Crawford-Lumpkin, Dwayne Crawford (Debra) and Darren Crawford Sr.; his former wife, Beverly J. Hicks; his siblings, Roosevelt Crawford Jr., Mary Braxton, Dorothy Dykes, Geraldine Evans, all of Harrisburg, William Thompson of Israel and John Thompson of Wichita, KS; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Crawford Sr. His life will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Thursday, November 10th, at Christian Insight Church, 4100-02 N. 6th Street, Harrisburg, with viewing 11 a.m.-12 Noon. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Flowers may be delivered to the church, 11/10, 9-9:30 a.m.
