Candace E. "Candy" Neverson

On Sunday, March 29, 1953, Candace E. Neverson, affectionately known as “Candy” by family and friends, was born in Harrisburg, PA, to her loving parents, Alberta (Rucker) Pittman and Clarence Pittman. Candy was a bright and adventurous little girl who loved and protected her sisters and brothers while growing up on Boas Street in Harrisburg. Candy loved hanging with her best friends and cousins, Oveta “Vickie” Freeman Johnston, Ardella “Della” Pittman, Carolyn McNeil Posey and (RIP), Tracy Logan. Wherever they went, they always took pictures to capture the memories. Candy was a sweetheart just like her nickname. Although being one of the babies of the bunch, she still didn’t take “no mess.” She enjoyed having cookouts and parties; any reason to bring family and friends together to reunite and cherish the love shared with one another. Candace retired from (Zentis) Sweet Ovations in Philadelphia, PA, as a Production Manager after twenty-six years of service. She then returned home to Harrisburg, where she briefly went back to work at the Homeland Center for six years gaining more friends she treated like family. To know Candy was to truly love her. During the latter years of her retirement, Candy became an avid traveler. Always traveling with her daughter, she got a chance to visit Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Las Vegas as well as going on cruises making memories that will last a lifetime. Candy loved her some Scotty and Walter of the “Whispers.” However, she was a diehard fan of her baby brothers as they were part of “21st Century” and the “Positive Force” band. She would practice with them so much in the garage of the family Boas Street home; you would have thought she was a member of the group. Candace’s children were the loves-of-her-life. She was blessed to have several grandchildren, friends, classmates and co-workers who loved her dearly. On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, while surrounded by her loved ones, Candace peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal life at seventy years of age. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharika Greene who was awaiting Candy’s arrival, and her siblings, William T. Williams and Samuel “Little Man” Williams. Candy leaves irreplaceable memories and her love to her son, Tony E. Williams; daughter, Malika Greene; her bonus children, Barry Neverson Jr. and Eyshia Jones; siblings, Cynthia Butler, Rosalind Woodyard (Larry), Gwendolyn Gist (Robert), Clarence Pittman (Marsha), Albert Pittman, Michelle Roberson (Ralph); as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
