Albert D. "Alpo" McNair

Albert D. McNair, son of Dorothy (Diggs) Johnson and the late Robert McNair Sr., was born Saturday, April 11, 1953, in Wagram, North Carolina. Affectionately known as “Alpo” by family and friends, he graduated from Scotland High School in North Carolina, Class of 1971, along with his two best friends, Daniel Cole and William Mitchell. Alpo even had a favorite teacher, Mr. Gorham. He attended Spring Branch Baptist Church in North Carolina, and retired from ServiceMasters, Linglestown, Pennsylvania. Alpo was a nice gentleman with a loving heart and a joyful spirit. Never a stranger, he made friends wherever he went. In a relationship which spanned over fifty years, he adored and cherished his soulmate, Patty “Trish” Blackwell. Needless to say, Alpo was a devoted family man. He deeply loved and shared many special relationships with all his family. His happy times were spent gardening and talking to his mother on the phone for hours; going to the corner store to get chocolate milk and candy for his grandchildren; and laughing and having fun with his sisters, Ruby, Lenora, Patricia, Queen Ester, Betty, Clara, and his brother, Robert. He unconditionally loved his children, Pooh (his loving and special baby daughter), Tabitha and Shelby, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Kiana Dennis, and his great-grandson Maurice. Alpo loved talking to his son-in-law, Aaron Reed, about basketball, especially, the Los Angeles Lakers; as well as sitting on the front talking and spending time with his cousins, George Diggs, Michael Ervin and Melvin Harris. His kindness also extended to assisting the elderly at Jackson Lick Apartments. On Friday, October 21, 2022, at sixty-nine years of age, Albert D. McNair transitioned from time to eternity joining in eternal life his father and his sister, Clara McNair-McPhatter. He leaves memories that will forever warm the heart and his love to his mother, Dorothy Johnson; his devoted and loving companion, Patricia Blackwell; daughters, Adrielle Reed, Tabitha Lewis; son, Shelby Lewis; sisters, Ruby McNair, Lenora McWhite, Queen Ester McLaughlin, Betty McNair, Patricia McNair; brother, Robert McNair Jr; grandchildren, Kiana Dennis, Alexus Reed, Alicia Reed, Aaron Reed, Sydney Lewis, Xavier Lewis, Shelby Lewis Jr. and Shelton Lewis; three great-grandchildren; godchild, Donna Haskins; other family members and friends.
