William Dwan Dunbar

William Dwan Dunbar was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, June 21, 1966, son of the late Jerrilyn D. Cofield and William K. Lewis. He entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the UPMC Pinnacle Community General Osteopathic Hospital with his loving and caring wife by his side. He was affectionately known as “Boo” and “Boppy” by his family and friends. “Boo” graduated from Dauphin County Technical School, Class of 1985. He was the proud owner of multiple businesses to include: Big Boys Towing, Big Boys Plowing, Dunbar Rentals and Operational Manager for Bright Minds Early Learning Center. “Boo” was a devoted, loving, caring husband and best friend. He loved his wife unconditionally and loved spending time with his loving, caring and devoted wife and his grandchildren who called him “Boppy.” He loved riding his motorcycle and racing his remote control racing cars. “Boo” was an avid San Francisco 49ers, Boston Celtics, Michigan Wolverines and New York Yankees Fan. He also enjoyed traveling, shopping, watching movies and going to dinner with his lovely wife and mother-in-law. “Boo” was a very hard-working man; something he loved and enjoyed doing. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a great provider. He loved his wife unconditionally and gave her the world. She was the love-of-his-life; she was his Bonnie, and he was her Clyde. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his wife. “Boo” was a generous and giving man always willing to lend a helping hand and always helping everyone. You called him, he was there; you needed him, he was there; you needed something, he was there--that was just “Boo,” a loving, giving and caring hearted person. He will be truly missed! He enjoyed and loved his daughter Shanayia’s cooking, and she loved cooking for her dad all the time. He would call her for his breakfast sandwich or ask “what’s for dinner?” He loved his wife’s cooking as well. “Boo” had a special and unique relationship with all six of his children. They all had a special bond and a special memory with their father. “Boo” was a member of the Redeem United Church of Jesus Christ where he was a deacon-in-training. He loved playing his tambourine while praising God. He faithfully served on the following church committees: the men’s department, the church maintenance department, the church greeters committee and the hospitality committee. “Boo” was preceded in death by his mother, Jerrilyn D. Cofield; father-in- law, Pastor Willie C. Hargrove Jr.; his sister, Ginger Dunbar; his grandmother, Mary Jane Dunbar; his uncle, Theran Dunbar (Trish); and cousin/brother, Robert Dunbar. “Boo” leaves to honor his legacy and forever cherish many special memories: his devoted wife of 28 years, Surbrena D. Hargrove-Dunbar; father, William K. Lewis; mother-in-law, Pastor Wanda L. Hargrove, all of Harrisburg, PA; daughters, Amber Brookin of Phoenix, AZ, Whitney Brookin, Cashae Barber and Shanayia N. Hargrove (Craig), all of Harrisburg; sons, Jerrell Little (Alyssa) and Jayson Davenport II (Jessica), all of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Za’Brea and Za’Vaun Richardson, Rande’le and Rhye’le Butler, Jakai and Jaida Davenport, David and Jariel Mannino-Beason, Jailynn and Jamel Price, all of Harrisburg; brothers, Lamont Palmer, Sr. of Harrisburg, and Julian Haigood, Sr. (Shinika ) of Houston, TX; brothers-in-law, Willie III and Jermaine Hargrove, Sr., both of Harrisburg; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved daughter dog, “Precious Blessings Dunbar.” Giving God all Glory, Honor and Praise!
