Sallie R. (Gantt) Cobb was born Monday, December 16, 1929, in Saluda, South Carolina, one of five children of the late Norah Gantt and Ida Walker. She received her formal education in the South Carolina public school system. In her early twenties, Sallie united in holy matrimony with the late George Cobb living happily together for thirty-plus years; unfortunately there were no children born to this union. Sallie was a faithful, dedicated member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Harrisburg, PA, where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher and on the Treasury Board until her declining health. Sallie led a fulfilling life. She was employed as an elevator operator for a period of time, a waitress, cook, and in numerous other capacities at Hamilton Grill where she retired after thirty-five years. Sallie enjoyed church, shopping, cooking which she did very well, and talking on the phone for hours. She also cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While at her home in Middletown, PA, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the blessed age of ninety, Sallie peacefully transitioned into eternal life joining her parents, husband, daughter, Angela Wilson, and son, David Gantt Sr. She leaves to mourn and cherish many irreplaceable memories her daughter, Georgetta Gantt; granddaughter, Ronnica Gantt; grandsons, Rynell Gantt Sr. (Tondelaya), David Gantt Jr., all of Harrisburg, PA, Ryan Wilson of York, PA, Brian Wilson of Ohio State; sixteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Skippy and Marvin of Harrisburg; her dearest best friend, goddaughter, Rose Lewis; as well as other relatives and friends.
