Phyllis R. Greene

Phyllis R. Greene, daughter of the late Martin Banks Sr. and the late Edna (Frye) Banks, was born Saturday, August 27, 1955, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Phyllis was a graduate of Culpeper High School and Barbizon Modeling School. She was united in Christian Fellowship with Christian Life Assembly Church, Camp Hill, PA, and was employed by The Honorable Deborah E. Curcillo at the Dauphin County Courthouse. She retired from Penn National Insurance Company. Among Phyllis’s many hobbies and pastimes were cooking, baking, sewing, exercising, reading, shopping, traveling, decorating, gardening and putting together jigsaw puzzles. Foremost, she enjoyed spending time with her family as evidenced by her taking swimming lessons just so she could swim with her grandchildren. Phyllis would often be heard expressing her favorite quotes: “What happens at Mema’s, stays at Mema’s!” and “Idle time is the devil’s workshop.” Phyllis was personable, yet private. A prayer warrior and a fighter, she put the needs of others before her own. Her prayer was to be blessed with more than enough to be a blessing to others. Along with being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, most importantly, she was a woman who feared the Lord and knew the importance of prayer. Faith was her foundation that was deeper and stronger than what many have ever or will ever witness. She knew it was impossible to please God without faith and she demonstrated that daily. The world is brighter because of God’s light that shined through her, and we’re forever grateful that God blessed us with being touched by His chosen daughter who will forever be remembered for so many things including, but not limited to, her laugh, her smile, her grace, her servant heart and her delicious desserts and amazing cooking! Phyllis would be disappointed if we didn’t continue to live life celebrating, serving one another and sticking together as family no matter what. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at sixty-nine years of age, Phyllis R. Greene transitioned from time to eternity joining her parents and her brother, Martin Banks Jr. Phyllis leaves to celebrate her life and cherish precious memories, her husband, Ozzie Greene; daughters, Melissa Greene (Wendell Talford Sr.) of Hazleton, PA, and Autumn G. Hatcher (Eric) of Mechanicsburg, PA; sisters, Edna Tyler (James) of Culpeper, VA, Gladys Saunders (Deandrea) of Steelton, PA, and Phoebe McGraw (Kelvin) of Clarksville, TN; her grandchildren, Tyray Greene, Tyler Greene, Tristan Hatcher, Jalissa Greene, Wendell Talford Jr. and Autumn Olivia Hatcher; along with other loving family members and friends.
