    Mr. Nathaniel Curtis

    December 9, 1935 - October 2, 2019

    Nathaniel Curtis, son of the late Ruben Curtis and the late Elveta Ballard Curtis, was born Monday, December 9, 1935, in Sumter, South Carolina. He attended the public schools in Dalzell, South Carolina. At an early age, Nathaniel attended High Hill Baptist Church in Sumter. Later in life, while living in Bronx, New York, he was a member of Ebenezer United Pentecostal Church. After many years of service, Nathaniel retired from Supreme Oil Company of Englewood, New Jersey. Among his most enjoyable activities were watching basketball, baseball, especially his favorite team, the New York Giants, and playing the guitar and harmonica for his family and friends. Nathaniel transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at eighty-three years of age. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion of sixty years, Norma Griffin; and two great-grandchildren, Knowledge Cain and Shyheem Utley. Nathaniel leaves to cherish precious memories his daughter, Fern McGuire (Thomas) of Pinebluff, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Alisha Malloy, James Moore, Jr., Hershell Goodman, Tonineka Turner, all of North Carolina; nine siblings, Ezekiel Curtis, Abbie Crosson and Martha Hunter of Pennsylvania, Julia Griffin, Elveta Birt, Mary German and Naomi Bell of New York, John Curtis and Harry Curtis (Debbie) of South Carolina; eleven great-grandchildren; godchild, Kevin McLane of New York; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
