September 8, 1922 - February 21, 2021
Myrtle (Sherrill) Jiggetts was escorted to her heavenly home by God’s hand on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Myrtle was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a sweet, humble and courteous person with a giving spirit and compassionate heart. Transitioning into death without fear or worry, Myrtle thanked God every day for His blessings and was at peace with her journey. Myrtle received her formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System, graduating from the former John Harris Senior High School. She worked locally at Pomeroy’s as an elevator operator and as a domestic for the late Robert and Mary Tillman family. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Baptist church as a young adult and a member for over 50 years. She enjoyed word search puzzles and eating ‘good’ food. Myrtle was the last survivor of six siblings born in Harrisburg, PA, on September 8, 1922, to the late Asia and Mary Ann Sherrill. In addition to her parents, Myrtle is peacefully reunited with sisters, Dorothy Adams (Orlando, FL), Carrie Virginia Williams (Harrisburg, PA) and Bertha Burrs (Cleveland, OH); brothers, Malcolm Sherrill (Harrisburg, PA) and Frederick Sherrill (Omaha, NE); oldest daughter, Maxine Jones Coleman (Harrisburg, PA); granddaughter, Janna Jones (Binghamton, NY); and nephews, Hiram Burrs (Cleveland, OH), Ronald Adams and Wilbur Adams Jr (Orlando, FL). Myrtle leaves memories for her youngest daughter Mary Ann and son-in-law Rory Spradley, with whom she lived; granddaughter, Rehema Jones; great-granddaughters, Nikkita and Nariyah Jones (Harrisburg, PA); grandson, Jediah Jones (Mechanicsburg, PA); great-grandson, Nashawn Jones (Harrisburg, PA); great-great-grandson, Gioni Jones Ngo; and great-great-granddaughter, Amylah Jones Ngo (Harrisburg, PA); nephew, Milton Burrs (Cleveland, OH); nieces, Patricia Adams (Orlando, FL), and Judith LeFlore and Nicole Sherrill (Omaha, NE); former and current sisters-in-law, Geraldine Jackson and Emma Sherrill (Omaha, NE); as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbors, and their friends in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C. To honor Myrtle’s wishes, she will be laid to rest in a private graveside service.
