Lloyd R. Harris Sr.

December 31, 1932 - January 18, 2022

Lloyd R. Harris Sr., son of the late Raleigh N. Harris and the late Lottie (Lester) Brady, was born Saturday, December 31, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA. Lloyd was united in Christian fellowship with St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and longtime bus driver. A retired railroad worker and member of Unity Lodge, I.B.P.O.E. of W., Keystone Council #6, Past Exalted Ruler, he also devoted his time serving as a volunteer fireman with the Edgemont Fire Company and Meals on Wheels. On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, Lloyd entered eternal life at eighty-nine years of age. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gaylor Evans. Lloyd’s legacy will be honored and cherished by his wife, Ruby Harris of Harrisburg, PA; his children, Lloyd Harris Jr. (Priscilla), Rose Butts, Antonia Matthews, Troy Tate and Towanda Collins, all of Harrisburg; numerous foster children to include April Swanson, Timmy Buffington, Tommy Buffington, Youthful Edgington, Margaret Stewart; seven grandchildren, Kerry Harris Sr., Vernell Harris, both of Harrisburg, Ruby Grayson of Dauphin, PA, Charrene Weaver Soto, Tanika Weaver, Kevin Butts and Carista Butts Anderson, all of Harrisburg; host of great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Britton of Harrisburg; brother, Frank Harris of Philadelphia, PA; other family members and friends.
