    Elmer Carl Woodyard Sr.

    September 15, 1921 - April 21, 2020

    Elmer Carl Woodyard Sr., son of the late Stephen Woodyard and Sylvia Hill Woodyard, was born Thursday, September 15, 1921, in York, Pennsylvania. A United States Army Veteran, he served his country honorably in Germany during World War II. After returning home, he was employed by Borg Warner Corporation and as a truck driver for Mailman’s Inc. He was a member of Charles E. Williams American Legion, Post 793, and its Drum and Bugle Corp which he loved so much. A faithful servant of the Lord, Elmer was united in Christian fellowship with Bethel A.M.E. Church, Harrisburg, PA, serving with the Deacon and Food Pantry Ministries. On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the blessed age of ninety-eight, Deacon Elmer Carl Woodyard Sr. transitioned from time to eternity joining his parents, son, Michael Woodyard, four brothers and three sisters. He leaves to honor and cherish his legacy: his loving wife, Reverend Emma Lee (Washington) Woodyard of Harrisburg, PA; his children, Elmer C. Woodyard Jr. of Aurora, CO, Terri Allen (Harold) of Houston, TX, Larry Woodyard (Rosalind) of Harrisburg, PA, Wendy Brice (Benjamin McCoy) of Enola, PA, Jeffrey Woodyard (Robin), Karen Williams (James), Stacy Woodyard (Brian Powell), all of Harrisburg, PA, Stanley Woodyard (Delores) of Broad Mountain, PA, Deidre McDonald (James) of York, PA; siblings, Charles Woodyard of Washington, DC, Robert Woodyard of Jacksonville, FL, Ruby Nelson of York, PA, Helen Trotman of Jacksonville, FL; host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members.
