Bessie Elizabeth Washington, daughter of the late George Sinkler and the late Delia (Dicks) Sinkler, was born June 10, 1943, in Sumter, South Carolina. Bessie was educated in the Sumter County public schools and work on farms and Fannie’s Fish House. Bessie was united in Christian fellowship with The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Bessie enjoyed many things in life including, but not limited to, fishing, watching her grandchildren, watching television, playing the lottery, bingo and socializing. At seventy-seven years of age while at UPMC Community General Osteopathic Hospital on Saturday, January 2, 2021, Bessie Elizabeth Washington transitioned from time to eternity joining her parents, husband, Melvin Washington Sr., and daughter, Delia Washington. Bessie leaves to celebrate her life daughter, Deborah Washington of York, Pennsylvania; son, Melvin Washington of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
