Mr. Willie E. Rhodes

Willie E. Rhodes passed away peacefully on July 9, 2014 in the Harrisburg Hospital in his seventy-ninth year. Willie was born November 1, 1934 in Call, Texas, to the late Willie Mae Scott and the late Woody L. Rhodes Sr. His family moved to Beaumont, Texas, where he completed his high school education. Thereafter, he served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. Willie retired from Hempt Brothers, Inc., after more than thirty years of service. Being too active to fully retire, he worked part-time for an additional ten years. He enjoyed nice cars, sports (Dallas Cowboys) and good conversation. He was affectionately known as “Tim the Tool Man” because of his ability to fix and make everything work being a perfectionist in all he did. Willie was a friend to all who knew him. To know him, truly was to love him. As a member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, he served faithfully with the Food Ministry. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his brother, Woody L. Rhodes Jr. Willie leaves to celebrate his life: his loving wife of 45 years, Lorraine Rhodes of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; his siblings, Ruth (Jessie) Ballou of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Electra Rhodes of Oakland, California, Teresa Mason of Sacramento, California, Barbara Rhodes and James Rhodes of Lynwood, California, Dortha Samuel and Allen (Gracie) Rhodes of Jasper, Texas, Rosemary (Philip) Burkes of Round Rock, Texas, Renna Martin and Kenneth Rhodes of Magnolia Springs, Texas, Roy (Joyce) Rhodes of Houston, Texas, and Ulysses (Pamela) Rhodes of San Antonio, Texas; his children, Stanley Rhodes of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cynthia M. Spencer of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Kimberly (George) McCrary of Beverly Hills, Michigan; and adopted daughter, Natalie Rhodes of Redford, Michigan. His memory will also be honored and cherished by his nine grandchildren, Dewayne (Tara) Spencer of Abingdon, Maryland, Ryan (Jasmine) Spencer of Chicago, Illinois, RaeShaunn Allen, Courtnee Allen and Tiffanee McCrary of Beverly Hills, Michigan, KiAnna (Terrell) Jackson of Southfield, Michigan, Marcus Rhodes, Brandon Rhodes and Donovan Rhodes, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; his three great grandchildren, Riley A. Ritter, Landon A. Spencer and Cash Rhodes; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Lovingly Submitted, The Family of Mr. Willie E.
