Wayne Allen Weedon Sr.

Wayne Allen Weedon, Sr. was born on October 12, 1955, in York, PA, and returned to the ancestors on Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was the youngest of four children born to the late Eva (Sweeney) and Samuel Weedon, Sr. Raised in York, Wayne attended the York City School District, where he met the love of his life, Patricia, at just 14 years old. Their young romance blossomed into a lifelong partnership that stood the test of time, rooted in love, and commitment. Known throughout the community as “Wayne & Trish,” their bond became a cornerstone of their lives together, a love that weathered every storm and grew even stronger as they raised five spirited children: each carrying a piece of both their strength and heart. After high school, Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he not only gained discipline and life skills but also discovered a passion for boxing, a sport in which he excelled. Upon completing his service, Wayne returned home and worked various labor-intensive jobs. Wayne was, above all, a family man whose heart belonged to his children. He was deeply committed to guiding them through life's challenges, infusing their home with an unshakable sense of love, safety, and belonging. Wayne believed in the power of unconditional love and made sure his children understood its importance—not just through words, but through action. He was a steady presence, always there to offer advice, encouragement, or simply a listening ear. Wayne taught his children valuable life lessons about the importance of family, perseverance, and staying grounded in one’s values. As their protector, and guide, his influence was deeply felt—whether they were fishing together, sharing stories, or bonding over his love of reggae music. His legacy of love and wisdom will continue to shape them long after his passing. His love for his family extended well beyond his immediate household. Wayne’s role as a grandfather and great-grandfather brought him immense joy. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nurturing their dreams and encouraging them to excel. He was their biggest cheerleader, offering tough love when necessary but always wrapping it in warmth and affection. His words of wisdom and his steady hand will continue to guide them, ensuring that his legacy of love and family lives on in their hearts. He leaves to mourn his loss, but cherish his memories, his wife and friend of 55 years, Patricia; four daughters, Nakesha N. Muldrow (Michael), Kamilah S. Weedon (Vince), Samaiyah S.L. Weedon-Gallon (Tyrone) all of York, and Kesi Weedon of Georgia; a honorary son, La’Quinn R. Harris; a brother, Samuel D. Weedon, Jr. (Tracy) of York; two sisters, Bernadette Wilson (James) of York and Wanda Weedon of Arizona; twelve grandchildren, Travanah L. Edwards, Nashaya N. Edwards (Duane), Travis L. Edwards Jr., Shawn D. Taft, Sariyah S. Gallon, Synyae E. Gallon, Tyrone A. Gallon, Jr., Tristan A. Gallon, Wayne A. Weedon III, A’Yajha S. Weedon, Rashad T. Holley, and Kemet W. Holley; five great-grandchildren, Naiara N. Greer, Masai V. McNair, Harmonee R. Greer, Allen J. Edwards, Jamir A. Greer, and another on the way at the time of his passing (Mylan I. Johnson-Bull), along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Wayne Allen Weedon, Jr., affectionately known as “Waynie.” His heart carried the weight of his son’s untimely passing, but even in grief, Wayne’s strength never wavered. He continued to lead his family with love and determination, ensuring that his son’s memory lived on through the love he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Wayne’s legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to family. Though he is no longer physically present, his spirit will continue to watch over his loved ones, guiding them as he always did with a steady hand and a loving heart.
