Virgil Lee Bell

Virgil Lee Bell, son of the late Henry Blackford Bell and the late Lucille (Scott) Bell, was born on Monday, August 30, 1954, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Virgil was educated in the Brownsville public school system and was a proud high school graduate. A hardworking and dedicated man, he built his career in the construction industry in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he was respected for his commitment, skill, and strong work ethic. Virgil’s greatest joy in life was the love he shared with Sandra Spriggs, the love of his life for forty-seven years. Their bond was a testament to devotion, loyalty, and companionship. Together, they built a blended and beautiful family, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. A man who never needed much to be happy, Virgil enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else. Whether sharing a quiet moment, enjoying conversation, or simply being present, he found peace and fulfillment in the company of those he loved. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and steady presence will be missed deeply by all who knew him. On Sunday, November 16, 2025, at seventy-one years of age, Virgil departed this earthly life at his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by love. He now joins his sisters, Sarah Williams, Juanita McKnight, Mamie Mickle, Naomi Williams, Henrietta Biddings, and Lucille Bell; and his brothers, Sylvester Bell, Henry (Junior) Bell, and Charles Bell, in eternal peace. Virgil leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life for forty-seven years, Sandra Spriggs; his son, Virgil Lee Bell Jr. (Kimberly); his stepdaughters, Kim Cameron (David), Beth Bowman (Ernest Foster), and Pamela Spriggs Walker (Grady); his stepsons, Frank Spriggs Jr. (Chandra), John Spriggs (Angie Graves), and Darnell Spriggs (Becky); his sisters, Edna Williams, Judith Brice, Linda Jackson, and Kathleen Bell Spence (Robert); and his grandson, Xzavion Lee Jefferson. He is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will continue to honor and remember his life. Virgil’s journey was marked by love, loyalty, and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will continue through the family he cherished so deeply.
