Toniesha Durham

Toniesha Durham, affectionately known as “Ton,” daughter of Shirley Durham and Mason Royal, was born on October 17, 1973, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Toniesha received her education through the Harrisburg School District. Prior to her injury, she was employed as a home health aide, a profession that reflected her caring and compassionate nature. She was truly one of a kind. She loved spending time with those she loved most. Whether she was spending time with “Bootie Butt” and Red, going to the park, fishing, or simply being with her mother and sisters, she found joy in the little things. She was always down for a good time but, as she would say, “not a long one.” Ton had a special spirit that drew people to her. One of her favorite sayings was, “No judgment,” and she meant it. Family and friends knew they could tell her anything without fear of being judged or having their business repeated. She listened with an open heart, carried others' burdens, and offered forgiveness and grace freely. Her love for her nieces and nephews was unmatched. She didn’t play with the babies. Her attentiveness helped lead to the discovery of a heart condition in one of her nieces, a testament to how deeply she loved and cared for her family. On Sunday, June 14, 2026, Toniesha transitioned to eternal life. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Reverend James E. Pearson and Thelma Durham, as well as her bonus dad, Rudolph H. Mitchell Sr. Toniesha leaves broken hearts and everlasting love to her parents, Shirley Durham and Mason Royal, both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her significant other, Marvin “Red” Mitchell; bonus daughter, Layla “Bootie Butt” Onni; her favorite uncle, David Lee Durham of Steelton, Pennsylvania; her beloved sisters, Shani Lewis (Ephraim), Tondria Manning (Sheldon), Diane Durham (Duane), and Cassandra Royal; four bonus brothers; her loving nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Ton will be remembered for her loyalty, kindness, laughter, and the love she gave so easily. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created and the lives she touched will remain in our hearts forever.
