Reginald Victor Thornton Jr.

Reginald Victor Thornton Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, was born on August 16, 1957, in Long Branch, New Jersey, to Reginald Victor Thornton Sr. and Mildred (Torrence) Thornton. Reginald received his formal education in New Jersey and graduated from Long Branch High School. He attended Jersey City State University, where he completed two years of college. He then honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, earning several awards, including the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Meritorious Mast (3rd Awd), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, as well as certificates of commendation and letters of appreciation. He dedicated many years of service to Norfolk Southern Railroad. A devoted employee, he shone through in everything he did, with his strong work ethic and commitment. He took pride in his work and carried himself with professionalism and integrity throughout his career. He had a passion for politics and sports and occasionally went to the movies and had dinner. He often engaged in lively discussions that reflected his enthusiasm and sharp mind. He enjoyed playing chess and was a member of the Internet Chess Club, a game he approached with the same strategic thinking and passion he applied to all aspects of his life. His sense of humor brought joy to those around him, and his laughter was truly contagious. Reginald was passionate about fitness and enjoyed working out, always caring for his health and well-being. His enthusiasm for life, unwavering dedication to his family and friends, and commitment to his interests and hobbies left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. On December 15, 2025, at the age of sixty-seven, Reginald peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Yolanda Thornton of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his brother, James Thornton of Ashburn, Virginia; his daughter, Regina Thornton-Ramos of Steelton, Pennsylvania; his son, Joshua Thornton of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren; his parents, Reginald Victor Thornton Sr., and Mildred Thornton of Jackson, New Jersey. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
