Patricia Denise (Hinton) Awotwi

Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. Psalm 103.2 Patricia Denise Awotwi was born Patricia Hinton to the late LeRoy and Margaret Hinton on Friday, September 30, 1955, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Educated formally through the Harrisburg School District, Pat graduated in 1973. She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s in Education from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. She began her career at Dauphin Deposit Bank where she excelled and was promoted to the position of Branch Manager. After successfully beating breast cancer, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an educator. In 1994, she began her career with the Harrisburg School District where she worked until her retirement impacting the lives of many children and families. She was an active, lifelong member of Mt. Sinai AME Church where she served on the Steward Board, Missionary Board, Sunday School and as a member of the Lay Organization. One of her many loves was the arts which included drawing and visiting museums. She also enjoyed all varieties of plants and flowers as well as puzzles, researching her family history through Ancestry, playing Candy Crush, reading her Bible, playing with her beloved dog Cody and spending time with her family. Patricia met the love-of-her-life, Desmond Ebo Awotwi while she was at Cheyney University and he was at Drexel University. They spent thirty-eight wonderful years together until his passing in 2016. As an active community member, Patricia served on several boards including the YMCA. On Friday, July 8, 2022, Patricia transitioned from time to eternity joining her parents; her youngest son Andrew; her younger brother Lawrence (Lisa); and her grandson, Dontae-DeVahn Winfield. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life two children, Samuel (Mariam) and MaDonna; her godchildren, Jermaine Shelton, Jason Pierce and Zoraida Rojo; her siblings, Edward (Barbara), Michael (Beth Ann), Le, Julia (George) and Rose; grandchildren, JahBorn-Amir, Airiyanna, Sebastian, Samir, Christian and Lizette; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
