N. Elaine Torain

N. Elaine Torain was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 18, 1945, the oldest of two siblings. She was promoted to Glory at seventy-eight years of age on Saturday, March 16, 2024, while at her home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Parham of Norfolk, Virginia. A graduate of Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland, Mrs. Torain received her Baccalaureate Degree from the College of Notre Dame – Maryland. Mrs. Torain met the love-of-her-life, Ernest Torain, at the age of fifteen, and the two married on June 19, 1965, in Baltimore Maryland. This was a blessed union for almost fifty-nine years. Mrs. Torain founded the first-ever computer training course at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and worked as the lead Technical Trainer for the Pennsylvania Turnpike until her retirement. She was a longtime member of The First Baptist Church of Steelton, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She wore many hats as a loving wife, devoted mother, and a doting grandmother. In her leisure, she was an avid reader, loved to travel to tropical settings, visit with family and friends, and do crossword puzzles. Her greatest loves were God, her beloved husband Ernest, her two sons, her five grandchildren, and college football. Mrs. Torain is survived by her husband, Ernest Torain of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; a sister, Rev. Dr. Novella Crudup of Capitol Heights, Maryland; son, Ernest Torain Jr. (Karin) of Evanston, Illinois, son, Erick Torain (Thewantha) of Swedesboro, New Jersey; granddaughter, Nadia Shirk (Toren) of Missoula, Montana, granddaughter, Peyton Torain of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, grandson, Ernest Torain III, Boston, Massachusetts, granddaughter, Kennedy Torain, New York City, New York, and grandson, Ethan Torain, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well as her two sisters-in-law who loved her very much.
