Michael Swan

Michael Swan, son of the late Willie Lee Swan and Susie Mae Wallace Swan, was born Thursday, August 24, 1961, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Michael, affectionately known as “Mike,” received his education through the Harrisburg School District and later received his General Educational Development Diploma. Michael held many positions as a maintenance worker and was always willing to help those in need. He assisted the residents of the Harmony Tower Apartment Building where he lived with numerous errands. Michael loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and other family members during holidays, birthdays and special occasions. He would call his family members first thing in the morning to wish them a good day and always ended the call with, “I love you.” Michael also enjoyed fishing with family and friends and would invite you to his apartment for a fish fry. During the winter months, all Mike talked about was how he couldn’t wait until spring/summer to get his fishing license. His sense of humor and comedic jokes would have you in tears laughing. Mike was also known for cooking his famous fried chicken. He attended several services at Mount Calvary Church of God In Christ and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. On Sunday, June 25, 2023, while at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital with his loving family by his bedside, Michael transitioned from time to eternity joining in eternal life his parents, his grandson, Maurice Lamont Ross III; sister, Sadie Dean Swan; brother-in-law, Joe Willie Williams Sr.; and his ex-brother-in-law, Robert V. Taylor. Fond memories will forever be cherished by his children, Tanesha Hill, Michael Hill and his wife Rutheia Hill, Erica Kendrick and her husband Thomas Kendrick, Michael Johnson, Shawna Johnson, La’Tasha Johnson, Darryl Johnson and Terrance Johnson; fourteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his siblings, Shirley Ann Swan-Williams, Arma Lee Swan-Taylor, Regene Swan-Cornelius and her husband James C. Cornelius, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Senior Pastor, Willie D. Swan and his wife Pastor Jacquelyn M. Swan of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and Ricky Swan of Key West, Florida; his aunts and uncles, Mattie Ruth Swan of Kankakee, Illinois, Pastor John Swan Jr. and his wife Flora Swan, Daisy Swan and Irene Wallace, all of Albany, Georgia, and Eddie J. Swan of Cusseta, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
