Marjorie "Margo" Louraine Scott- Robinson

Marjorie (Margo) Louraine Scott-Robinson was born in Washington, D.C., on November 6, 1930, to the late Francis T. Scott, Sr., and Mathilda (Smith) Scott. Marjorie departed this earthly life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She entered into eternal rest to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Oak Hill Village in Middletown, Pennsylvania. Marjorie loved the Lord and professed her faith in Jesus Christ from a very young age. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. She was affectionately known by many names from those who loved her: Margo, Mar, Lou, Margie Lou, Aunt Margie, Ma’ Dukes, Nanna and, the most endearing of them all, Mama. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and played a significant role in helping to raise many of her grandchildren. She was a great conversationalist and enjoyed meeting people. She always had a remarkable story to share about many of her life’s experiences. Marjorie was a US Postal Service employee who retired in 1974. Throughout her life, she was employed in many fields including the sewing industry which afforded her the experience to make many of her own fashions. She worked as a Short-Order Cook and was known to be an excellent cook who was able to make a great meal with little effort on short notice. Her love and compassion for people led her to provide nursing care for ailing family members, friends or anyone who had a need for her to care for them. Amongst her many talents, interests and passions were gardening, drawing, clipping recipes, reading, sewing, traveling, bird watching and collecting antiques. Most notably, she was known to have a “Green Thumb” and could make any plant grow. She would take the weakest plant that everyone was certain would die and re-root, re-pot and revive it. She was much like a plant doctor as she knew plants and exactly what they needed to thrive. She lovingly shared this gift with others who now share her passion. Although she acquired forty-two Learner’s Permits, she never obtained a driver’s license. This never deterred her from getting to her destinations. She enjoyed walking and would walk or take public transportation to anywhere that she wanted to go in New York City, Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. She always appreciated the finer things in life and was always appreciative of the things given to her. She literally treasured everything she had, whether she bought it, or it was given to her. Every item had a story, and she was able to say when she received it, where it came from and who gave it to her. Marjorie is survived by three sons, Elder Leonard A. “Robbie” Robinson Jr. (Phyllis), York Haven, PA, Louis C. “Louie” Robinson (Alvina), Washington D.C., and Pastor Ernard S. “Sonny” Robinson, Sr. (Kim) of Harrisburg, PA; daughter-in-law, Myriam Robinson of Philadelphia, PA; godson, Malcolm Scott of Seat Pleasant, MD; three siblings, Spencer W. Scott, Washington D.C., Richard D. Scott, Sr. of LaPlata, MD, and Patricia J. Waller, Hyattsville, MD; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Samuels-Scott of Seat Pleasant, MD; nineteen grandchildren, Cindy, Eddie, Tony, Marlen J. “Lil Robbie”, LaMont, Benjamin “Butch”, Jasmine, Darius “Stormy”, SeRina, Lamar, Christopher, Tiffany, Spencer, Danielle, Marcus, Tyler, Tanika, Quinn and Bria; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and many other close relatives and friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by both parents; the love-of-her-life, Leonard “Sonny" Robinson, Sr.; two sons, Warren Robinson and Raymond Robinson; three siblings, Francis “Buddy” Scott, Jr., Timothy “Timmy” Scott and Elizabeth “Betty” Huff. Her ninety-two years of life have left an indelible impression on the hearts of all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.
