Margie Thompson Richardson

Margie Thompson Richardson, 68, peacefully transitioned on October 12, 2024. Originally from Rowland, North Carolina, Margie made Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, her home for many years, where her joyful and loving spirit touched countless lives. Born on March 16, 1956, in Robeson County, North Carolina, Margie was the cherished daughter of the late Worth Thompson and Hazel Sutton Thompson. As a child, she was an active and dedicated member of Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Rowland, where she served on the Junior Usher Board, the Junior Missionary Board, and sang with joy in the choir. Her faith and love for her church family formed the foundation of her lifelong dedication to service. After graduating from Rowland High School, Margie moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she led a fulfilling career as a dietician which ended at Homeland Center, a Continuing Care Retirement Community. Her kindness and care for the residents were felt by all, and she carried these qualities into her retirement, focusing her time on what mattered most, her family. Margie was the heart of her family—a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She found her greatest joy in gathering with her loved ones with music playing, sharing her delicious baked goods and her contagious laughter. Margie's warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome and at home in her presence, and her joyful spirit was a light to all who knew her. Preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Margie leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and lasting bonds. She is survived by her four children, Termaine (Florida), Marco (Georgia), and Margie and Hazel (both of Pennsylvania). She also leaves behind her devoted and loving companion, Mike Sellers of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; twelve beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. Margie's memory will also be lovingly carried on by her five sisters, Shirley Pate and Irene Carter (both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), Rosa Thompson and Hazel Thompson (both of Rowland, North Carolina), and Hattie Barnes (Frankie) of Maxton, North Carolina; and two brothers, Coy Thompson and Joseph Thompson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She will be missed by her uncle, Johnny Sutton, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Margie’s presence was a gift, and her love was boundless. While her absence leaves a deep void, her legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She will forever remain in our hearts.
