The Obituary LaKisha Nicole Maynard LaKisha Nicole Maynard was born Saturday, October 19, 1974, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. LaKisha passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at forty years of age. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Willie and Betty Maynard. LaKisha was educated in the Harrisburg School District. She later began a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant working as a home health caregiver. She worked at various nursing agencies and was often requested by families to care for their loved ones. She was one hard-working woman who cared for her patients as if they were her own family members. LaKisha was a natural-born caregiver. She has been lovingly referred to as having an “old soul.” Even as a young teenager, she had this natural ability to care for people. She had a nurturing spirit and could always be found taking care of someone’s child. Throughout her life journey, Kisha was also instrumental in helping to raise some of her nieces, nephews or anyone else who needed to be loved and cared for. It was one of the most special parts of her; she loved children. The loves of her life were her three sons whom she lived and breathed for. She was an excellent mother who always put their needs before her own and a loving grandmother who simply adored her grandbabies. They were the shining stars of her life. Kisha also made sure the needs of her mother were taken care of. She stepped in and stepped up during her mother’s illnesses and became her devoted caregiver. And, she did it all in love. She was also a trusted friend who could always be found with a big smile on her face, especially when posing for pictures. And, we all know Kisha loved pictures. With her beautiful smile, she had this lovely habit of saying, “I love you,” whenever she said goodbye to you. It was just her way. Kisha leaves to cherish her memories: her loving mother, Andrea Maynard Lockett; her sons, Thomas “TJ” Tumer (Nicki), Jaylen and Taijay Brown; her brother, Dawan Maynard (Sky); her sisters, Chavetta Maynard, Leslie Anderson, Trina Jackson, Monique Hughes, April Washington, Danielle McKnight and Kita Ambush; her grandchildren, Kailer and Kamrin Tumer; her closest friend, Rochelle “Pebbles” Donald; uncle, Will Maynard (Yvonne); aunt, Judy Finley (Steve); and a host of other family members and friends. Lovingly Submitted, The Family God writes each of our life stories. He decides every chapter, and he alone decides when our earthly journey is over.
