Kenyatta D. "Kim" Smith

Kenyatta D. Smith was born out of the union of the late Elder Charles N. Perry and Cordelia Ann Perry on Monday, April 26, 1965, in Newark, New Jersey. Kenyatta or “Kim” was affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as “Aunt Kimmie.” Kim received her formal education in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Central Dauphin East High School. She also attended Empire Beauty School for Cosmetology and later became employed by United Concordia where she retired after thirty years of faithful service. Kim met and married the love-of-her-life, David S. Smith, and from that union they had one child, Shaquita (Quita). Kim loved life and had a flair for entertaining and event planning. She had a smile that lit up the whole room. She was beautiful, classy and full of love for her family and friends. She had a warm and motherly presence that filled the room. She definitely left an impact on all who knew her. Kim’s husband David, daughter Quita and her grandchildren, Deegan and Dilynn, were the apples of her eye and were her source of joy. Kim was born and raised in the COGIC denomination, attending both Emanuel and Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Harrisburg, PA. Later in life, Kim became an associate member of Baptist Fellowship Church where she had a spiritual relationship with the Pastor and First Lady. Kim and David were married close to thirty years and have been together over forty years. She and David were always together and enjoyed hosting cookouts and other family gatherings at their home. Kim peacefully received her Heavenly wings on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, with her loving husband and family at her bedside. Kim was preceded in death by her father, Elder Charles N. Perry, and her mother, Cordelia A. Perry. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory a loving husband, David S. Smith of Harrisburg, PA; her daughter, Shaquita P. Thomas of Carmel, IN; two sisters, Robin Perry and Tina Mosley (Brian), both of Harrisburg; one brother, Charles Norman Perry (Tracy) of Harrisburg; three sisters-in-love, Linda (James or “Crump” as Kim called him) of Harrisburg, Neccy of Hampton, VA, and Angie of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Deegan and Dilynn Thomas of Carmel, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. While she will be missed, Kim – Aunt Kimmie- will never be forgotten!
