Jy Gabriel Jackson

Jy Gabriel Jackson was born on July 18, 2002, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the beloved son of James Jackson and Yashira Allen-Brathwaite. Jy was raised with the love and influence of family in both Pennsylvania and Panama City, Panama. Jy was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School in York, Pennsylvania. He continued his education at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. Jy was employed by Comfort Keepers in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Jy was proud to have been raised in Panama City, Panama. When he came to York, Pennsylvania, speaking broken English, he was determined to master the language—and he did. His special friendships with Emmy, Jamal, and Chris were immediate and enduring, strengthened by the language and cultural history they shared. Everyone admired Jy for his deep love for family and his sincere desire to know and connect with each family member. He shared a unique, meaningful, and strong bond with each of his siblings—both collectively as a family and individually, each one built on love, trust, and mutual support. He was a loving and doting uncle to all twelve of his nieces and nephews, mentoring them with patience, encouragement, and love. Jy also held a special relationship with his cousin, Hector, who was like a brother to him and whom he loved dearly. On Friday, July 31, 2026, Jy transitioned from this life in Allentown, Pennsylvania, at twenty-four years of age. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Mitchell, and his grandmother, Carolyn “Nan” Sexton. Jy leaves cherished memories to his mother, Yashira Allen-Brathwaite; his father, James Jackson; his sisters, Jovanna Garnett and Sharissa Wecker, both of York, Pennsylvania, Jalyn Jackson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jakayra Simpson and Jada Jackson, both of York, Pennsylvania, and Afrikah Deans of Panama City, Panama; his brothers, Jordan Garnett of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jovar Jackson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Anthony Redwood of Allentown, Pennsylvania, JoQuan Jackson of York, Pennsylvania, and Elijah Deans and Jahbari Deans of Panama City, Panama; his grandfather, Rodolfo Allen of Georgia; his step-grandfather, Gabriel Adonicam of Panama City, Panama; his grandmother, Ivonne Brathwaite of Panama City, Panama; his twelve nieces and nephews; his special cousin, Hector; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
