John Wayne Graves ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We could remember Wayne and only that he is gone, Or we could cherish his memory and let it live on. We could cry and close our minds, Be empty and turn our backs, Or we could do what Wayne would want, Smile, open our eyes, love and go on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Wayne Graves, son of Mary Louise Enoch Graves and John Willie Graves, was born January 31, 1953, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Wayne, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was educated in the Central Dauphin School District, Harrisburg, and in Reidsville, North Carolina, where he graduated from Reidsville Senior High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving four years. His employment history included Verizon, US Postal Service and numerous trucking firms as a driver. Wayne was a “people-person” who would stop and talk to a stranger as if he were talking to a family member or a friend. Leisurely, he enjoyed basketball, wrestling and football. On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at sixty years of age, Wayne entered eternal life. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Howard Graves; sister, Gwendolyn Moton; his grandparents, Waldo and Elizabeth Enoch, Claude and Velma Graves; and an aunt, Lillian Louise Totton. Wayne leaves to celebrate his life and share many special memories of good times and even some challenging times: his wife, Michelle M. Graves of Arizona; his mother, Mary Louise Graves of Harrisburg; his father, John W. Graves (Helen) of Steelton, PA; one son, John Wayne Graves Jr.; one daughter, Andrea` McCain, both of Harrisburg; three sisters, Theresa Ulen (Clive “Tony”) of Mount Joy, PA, Emily Moton and Gayluyn Stewart, both of Steelton; four brothers, Joseph Graves, John Willie Moton, Claude Moton and Stevie Lincoln, all of Steelton; a grandson, David F. McCain-Corbin; great grandson, Jaiden David McCain-Corbin; an aunt, Ernestine Enoch of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Stephanie Graves; nieces, Deborah Dunlap of Charlotte, NC, Renee Butts (Kiyasi) of Mechanicsburg, PA; nephews, Jerron Palmer (Jennifer), Jason Graves (Tara) and Willie Arter; three great nieces, three great nephews of Harrisburg; other relatives and friends. Lovingly Submitted by the Family of John Wayne Graves His life will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Wallace Funeral Directors, with viewing from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
