John Edward Barber

John Edward Barber, lovingly known as “Streets,” beloved son of John Barber Sr. and Becky (Butler) Barber, was born on Monday, March 1, 1971, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. John received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System and graduated from Harrisburg High School. He grew into a man known for his strength, loyalty, and the quiet confidence he carried throughout his life. To those who knew him, John was dependable, protective, and deeply committed to the people he loved. John was united in Christian fellowship at New Anointed Christian Fellowship Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Lynda Richardson Leach. A devoted father, John took great pride in his children and family. He was a provider and protector, always standing strong for those he loved. One of his greatest joys was creating memories with his family, especially during annual trips to Virginia Beach. Virginia held a special place in his heart, where he enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, relaxing by the water, and spending uninterrupted time with those closest to him. John also loved cooking and grilling, often bringing family and friends together through good food, laughter, and unforgettable moments. His loyalty extended beyond family to his close circle of friends, many of whom he considered family. On Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of fifty-four, John peacefully transitioned into eternal rest in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Robert, whom he loved dearly. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Shanise Barber, Johnise Barber and John Barber; his beloved grandchildren, Laila Rainy, Legend Barber, and Legacy Barber; his godson, CJ, who brought him immense joy and pride; his parents, John Barber Sr. and Becky Butler-Barber; his sisters, Tina Barber, Terry Barber, and Tracy Barber; his brothers-in-law, Reggie and Jeff; his high school sweetheart and mother of his children, Becky Reyes; his best friends, Little Johnny, Chili and Spitzy, whose bond with him was built on loyalty and years of shared memories; and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
