Dana Bryan Blackston

Dana Bryan Blackston, son of the late Aaron Samuel Blackston and Matilda Greene Blackston, was born on May 11, 1962, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dana received his formal education through the Harrisburg School District and was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, Class of 1981. He later dedicated many years of service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Insurance Department, from which he retired. Dana was united in marriage to Marian Blackston, and together they built a life centered around family, love, and lasting memories. Dana had a passion for football on every level. He assisted Charles Chisholm, founder of the Harrisburg Packers Midget Football Program, before Charles' retirement and later assumed leadership of the program for several years. He was also a devoted supporter of both the Bishop McDevitt and Cougars Football Programs, proudly cheering on the mighty, mighty Cougars. Although he enjoyed debating which football program was the best, his heart always remained with his alma mater. Dana also loved planning and preparing meals for family and friends, bringing everyone together around the table. Above all else, he loved his sons with all his heart. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 733. On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of sixty-four, Dana peacefully transitioned from this life at Carolyn Croxton Slane House in Harrisburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Aaron Blackston Jr., Allen Blackston, Gomorrah Blackston, Jonathan Blackston, and Mevin Dennis; and his sisters, Louise Dennis, Lorraine Preston, Phyllis Williams, Constance Davenport, Aaronette Blackston, Joan Lackey, and Cleo Blackston. Dana leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Marian Blackston; his sons, Mustafa Blackston (Kaylee) and Ahmad Blackston; his brother, Mark Blackston (Marsha Blackston); his sister, Lynn Blackston; a cherished grandson expected to arrive in September; a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and love. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Kevin and Vada Preston, Sherry Davenport, Lynn Blackston, Anita Blackston, Marla Dennis, Raymond Davenport, Cindy Camden, Butch Blackston, and his devoted friends, Clarence and Terri Bonner, who faithfully remained by his side throughout his illness. Their love, support, and unwavering presence will always be remembered with deep gratitude. In honor of Dana’s life, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg Cougars Midget Football Association, 1230 Fox Hollow Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17113.
