Benjamin "Dickie" Brown III

Benjamin “Dickie” Brown III, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and community member, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Dickie was born on January 26, 1947, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, to the late Benjamin Brown Jr. and the late Alice Moulden Brown. He received his formal education in Annapolis, Maryland, where he attended Annapolis Senior High School. Following high school, Dickie proudly enlisted in the United States Army, beginning a lifetime marked by hard work, dedication, and service. After returning to civilian life, Dickie continued his career and eventually retired from the U.S. Naval Academy Commissary. In 1988, he moved his family to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he and his longtime friend, Marty Siegel, started their own Meat Marketing Sales company. His passion and knowledge of the trade eventually led him to become a Master Butcher at Weis Supermarket, a role he took great pride in. Dickie also had a lifelong passion for automobiles, particularly his beloved Corvettes. While living in Annapolis, he was a charter member of the Annapolitan Corvette Club, joining in 1976. He was also a member of the UCCC (United Council of Corvette Clubs) and the Eastern Regional Corvette Club. His love of Corvettes brought him many friendships, memorable experiences, and a community that remained an important part of his life. After settling in Harrisburg, Dickie became a member of VFW Post #1718, American Legion Post #1001, and was also a member of Baptist Fellowship church. He was known for his strong personality, generous spirit, work ethic, sense of humor, and the lasting friendships he formed throughout his life. To celebrate and cherish his memory, Dickie leaves behind his three children, Benjaminet Nicole Brown-Click, Tiffini Brown-Ross (Charles), and Benjamin “Beno” Brown IV (Jackie), all of Harrisburg, PA; adopted daughter Nyjah; godchildren, Moe & Juwyna; one sister, Anna Moreland (Terry); one brother, Wayne Brown (Angela); sister-in-law Artha Lee Brown; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He also leaves to cherish his memory his fiancée Zelda Deriso; special friends, Terry Moreland, James “Junebug” Pindell, Larry Kelly, Harvey “Hop” Carter, and countless other friends whose lives he touched along the way. Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Brown, his parents, Benjamin Brown Jr. and Alice Moulden Brown; his brother, Sherman Brown Sr.; and his sister, Patricia Brown. Though he will be deeply missed, Dickie’s memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him. His stories, laughter, friendships, and the lessons he shared will continue to be remembered for generations to come.
