Austin Parsons

Austin Parsons was born on Monday, July 16, 1951, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, to the late Reginald Parsons and the late Ivory Parsons. Austin was educated in the Virgin Islands and, early in life, learned the value of hard work, humility, and helping others. Carrying those lessons with him, he built a respected career as a member of the Local 520 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Through diligence, skill, and integrity, he became known as a dependable craftsman and mentor to many. After years of faithful service, Austin retired with pride, having left a lasting impact on his trade and community. A man of faith, Austin was a devoted member of Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he worshiped faithfully and supported the ministry with sincerity and humility. His faith in God guided every aspect of his life, shaping his work ethic, compassion for others, and deep love for his family. A man of purpose, discipline, and quiet strength, Austin embodied the true measure of a man, not in worldly possessions but in the way he served and loved others. His hands were always ready to help, and his heart was always open to give. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, his unmistakable island accent, and his laughter that could light up any room. He was the steady anchor of his family, wise, generous, and unfailingly loyal. Austin loved his family deeply and found great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was more than a father and grandfather; he was a friend, counselor, and role model whose guidance and unconditional love will remain in their hearts forever. Though his roots were in the Virgin Islands, Austin carried the spirit of home wherever he went. His kindness, generosity, and respect for others reflected the richness of his heritage and the depth of his faith in God and humanity. On Sunday, November 9, 2025, at seventy-four years of age, Austin departed this life peacefully in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by love and family. Joining his parents, Reginald and Ivory Parsons and his siblings, Justin Parsons, Renardo Parsons Sr., Valarie Warner, and Lillian Parsons, in eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sons, Ronald Parsons, Terrence Parsons Sr., and Austin Brown; his grandchildren, Terrence Parsons Jr., Shatara Parsons, Micah Parsons, Rahn Parsons, Shawnlee Duncan, Kyeron Parsons, Elijah Parsons, Xavier Brown, and Freya Brown; and his great-grandchildren, Jade Koonz, Trey Noll, Kayson Matos, Grayson Matos, Tyrique Parsons, Julianna Parsons, Roman Parsons, Zyon Parsons-Gooding, Zyair Parsons-Gooding, Malcom Parsons, Milana Parsons, Micah Parsons Jr., Milan Bilups, Messiah Bilups, Mahky Bilups; sisters Winfred Callwood, Lecia Parsons, Lorna Parsons, La Verne Parsons-Dondalle; aunts, Ethlyn Freeman, Beryl Smith, Joyce Hodge, Bernice Mosanto, Doris Parsons, Alma Dawson, and Yvone Dawson; and his uncles, Edgar Hodge, Basil Hodge, Stanley Parsons, Rudelle Parsons, Gandwell Parsons, Kenneth Parsons, Edward McClearn, Clarence Dawson, Hugo Vanterpool, Reuben Vanterpool, and Joseph Vanterpool; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Austin Parsons Sr. lived a life of purpose, strength, and generosity. He measured success not by status or wealth, but by the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the lessons he left behind. His legacy of compassion, humility, and family devotion will continue to shine through the generations who follow him. “The measure of a man is not in gold or gain, not in titles, nor in glory, nor in worldly fame. It’s in the hands that help, the heart that gives, the quiet ways he teaches us how to live.” Forever loved, forever remembered; the life and legacy of Austin Parsons Sr. will never fade.
