Psalm 23:6 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ardelia Houston Johnson, affectionately known as “Dee,” was the sixth of eight children born to the union of the late Gladys Houston and the late Louida Carroll Houston on Sunday, June 10, 1923, in Hickory, Mississippi. Dee received her formal education in Hickory and graduated from Hickory High School. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was united in Christian fellowship with the Wesley A.M.E. Church in Hickory. Dee met the love of her life, the late J. Waymon Johnson, and in 1947 Dee and Waymon were united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with three sons, Michael, Marshall who preceded her in death and Marvin. Dee was committed to her family and was a faithful servant until her passing. Everyone knew her to be a peacemaker, very loving and giving. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and putting puzzles together. On Sunday, June 23, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family at the home of her devoted granddaughter, Dawn Wright in Steelton, PA., the angels came to receive Dee into eternal life joining her parents, husband, son, three sisters, Pauline, Callie and LaVerne; and four brothers, Belzie, James, George and William. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish a legacy of loving faithfulness two sons, J. Michael Johnson of Steelton and Marvin K. Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; her eleven grandchildren, Carina Dixon (James), Dawn Wright (Steve), all of Steelton, Ryan Wallace (Lilly), Jasmine Robinson, all of Harrisburg, PA, Kham Johnson (Summer) of Montclair, NJ, Brian Johnson (Brittany) of Harrisburg, Lauren Johnson of Brooklyn, NY, Keenan Roberts (Pam), Corey Johnson, all of Harrisburg, Taylor and Tyler Johnson, both of Atlanta; her fourteen great grandchildren, Byron, Briana, Kiera, Brigid, SteVonne, Marshall, Cheyenne, Zoe, Zachary, Kylah, Keenan Jr., Khahil, Corey Jr. and Khaliyah; three great great grandchildren, Kymarri, Zavion and Jyana; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In All Things, We Give Thanks, The Family Her life will be celebrated at 11 A.M., Monday, July 1st, at Bethel Village A.M.E. Church, 1721 N. 5th Street, Harrisburg, with viewing from 10 to 11 A.M. and interment at William Howard Day Cemetery.
