Annie Mae Gray

Annie Mae Gray, daughter of the late Herndon Eugene Gray and the late Irene (Pendelton) Gray, was born on Saturday, July 18, 1942, in Amissville, VA. In 1972, Annie relocated from Virginia to Harrisburg, PA, where she began a career with the Harrisburg School District. Over the span of 31 years, she worked faithfully in food service, beginning at Hamilton School. She later became a manager and continued at the old middle school until its closing, and finally at William Penn High School until her retirement. Annie was a devoted member of Unity Temple #61, where she served as Treasurer, Past State President, Past Grand Member of the Education Department, a member of the Shrine Department, and Assistant Financial Secretary. She also was a member of the Turtle Club, through these roles, she built lasting friendships and earned respect for her dedication and leadership. In her leisure, Annie enjoyed reminiscing with her family about “the good old days” in Virginia. She also loved traveling with her Elks family, with trips to casinos being among her favorite adventures. Annie was happiest surrounded by loved ones, sharing laughter and creating memories. On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at eighty-three years of age, Annie May Gray transitioned from this life into eternal life. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Herndon Gray Jr., Hazel Gray, Ricky Gray, and Silas Gray; her sisters, Debbie Gray and Lena James; and her sister-in-law, Jennifer Gray. Her life and memory will forever be cherished by her sisters, Alice Gray, Elsie Jackson (George), Peggy Jones (Howard), and Lula Jordan; her brothers, Douglas Payton and Jimmy Gray; her children, Rayginia Hill (James), James Robinson (Bonni), and Darryl Robinson; her granddaughters, Jamie, Joy, Brittani, Katrina, Rayouna, Janelle, and Isabella; her grandsons, Brandon, Raymond Jr., and Kendrell; eight great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
