Ms. Sodea Anne Brown

Sodea Anne Brown, daughter of Delores C. McArthur and the late Swanson Brown, Jr., was born September 8, 1981, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At an early age, Sodea attended Sunday School at the Beulah Baptist Church. She later joined Beulah and was baptized on May 5, 1991, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Leon Eichelberger. During her membership, she was a member of the Junior Usher Board, Junior Choir, Van Ministry, and Young Adult Choir. She had a yearning to learn more about having a relationship with the Lord, thereby attending Bible Study, Small Group Discipleship Class, and Vacation Bible School. She served as co-chairperson for the 102nd Church Anniversary. Her favorite song was “Grateful.” Whenever able, Sodea enjoyed serving food at church events. A graduate of Steelton-Highspire class of 1999, she also furthered her education studying at Harrisburg Area Community College, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She attended classes at AAA Travel to become an agent and received certificates of completion. In her working career, Sodea was employed at Hershey Park, Olive Garden as a server, Gannett Fleming for 12 years in several administrative positions, Sundance Vacations and Wendy’s Corporation as a administrative/receptionist, and currently at Comcast as a billing specialist. She enjoyed assisting customers with their infinity needs making sure that they would receive the best service possible. Her enthusiastic and energetic work efforts awarded her numerous accommodations. She was very humble in serving others and she shied away from compliments. In the community, she was a poster child for the LUPUS Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-state Chapter; a volunteer at the annual ChocolateFest helping with registration and assisting the judges with the tallies; participated in many annual events at the Midland Cemetery and Dauphin County Historical Society. In all her community efforts, Sodea had an igniting personality and enjoyed the work that she contributed to all mankind. Hobbies included traveling, baking, gardening, and crocheting. She was an avid movie buff, watching Netflix and Game of Thrones. She also enjoyed making her famous sweet potato pies and lemon pound cake for family and friends. Sodea had such a bubbly personality attributing to her many, many friends male and female alike. Sodea had a love for her family and friends. She especially loved her children, Ja`Quan and Jai`lin, making sure that their every need was taken care of. In a quiet and peaceful transition, Sodea departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. She leaves to cherish precious, precious memories her mother, Delores C. McArthur; step-father, Howard McArthur; fiancé, Carl Murphy; children, Ja’Quan and Jai’lin Murphy; sister, Jennifer Philemon; grandmother, Frances Iles; uncles, Darryl (Karen) Murray, Dennis Wallace, Edward (Joyce) Robinson, Darrell Coleman; aunts, Susan Coleman and Angela Coleman; great aunts, Shirley Williamson, Barbara Barksdale, Pauline Thomas; great-uncle, David Thomas; great-great aunt, Gwendolyn Brooks; great-great uncle, Raymond Bullock; Godmother, Audrey Winters; Godchildren, Makalya Lambert, Zion Wilkerson, Marianna Yanez, and Jaden Varner; nieces, nephews, numerous number one cousins, other relatives and friends from all walks of life. Sodea Anne Brown touched a multitude of people, but the one thing that we will always remember about her was that radiant, inspirational, and infectious smile!
