Marion Elizabeth Johnson

Marion Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of the late Clyde W. and Eleanor Reid, was born Tuesday, September 16, 1947, in Harrisburg, PA. Marion completed requirements for the General Educational Development Program and attended Head Hunters School for Hair. Her employment path included the hotel housekeeping industry, nursing assistant at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Frey Village, Reese’s Candy Company retiring after eighteen years and Boyo Transportation where she worked for fourteen years retiring on January 31, 2023, and receiving recognition for her exemplary work from Chris Yellowdy. Marion was a member and Church Treasurer at Greater Grace Church under the leadership of Pastor Alonzo Potts who recognized Marion with a Certificate of Dedication for her outstanding service. Marion often discussed with her daughter Kelly the importance of family and having a true relationship with the Lord. On April 30, 2022, she was honored for Women’s History Month by The Village, Anthony Burnett Sr. and Anthony Burnett Jr. Marion devoted her time to reading her Bible and devotionals, playing computer games, watching wrestling, game shows, “Gun Smoke” and the Sunday morning service at Wesley Union AME Zion Church with Pastor Miller. Foremost, Marion loved spending quiet time with the Lord, fussing with the kids who wouldn’t listen to her and going to the store with her partner-in-crime, Tracy. Marion and her husband Charles cared for Marion’s sister Tracy when she became ill which made their relationship stronger even though they got on each other’s last nerve. Marion and Charles also took in family members when they didn’t really have the room to do so. You could say they had a somewhat open-door policy. On Thursday, May 25, 2023, at seventy-five years of age, while surrounded by her loving family, Marion Elizabeth Johnson transitioned from labor to reward joining in eternal life her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Reid; daughter, Theresa Y. Reid-Christian; brothers, Lawrence Reid, William C. Reid; and sister, Tammie E. Reid. Marion leaves her love and irreplaceable memories to be cherished by her husband, Charles R. Johnson; children, Kelly M. Holmes (Napoleon), Todd A. Reid (Elizabeth), Wanda L. Roman (Douglas) and Dontez L. Reid (DeVita); stepchildren, Sheena Burnett (Anthony), Charles T. Johnson, Shanna Hymon and Shakia Hymon; siblings, Tracy L. Reid, Arnell J. Reid, Ricardo A. Reid (Lucy) and Gregory J. Reid (Sue); brothers-in-law, Calvin Johnson (Towanna), Wayne Johnson, Merriman Johnson Jr., Roland Johnson (Diane) and Ronald Johnson; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, twenty-two step-grandchildren; godchildren, Kayson Rorie and Kamiyah Rorie; along with other family members and friends. Marion will truly be missed by a multitude of family, friends, neighbors, children she took to school and their parents, all who loved Ms. Marion.
