Mrs. Annie M. "Cleda" Hatcher

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “…there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying neither shall there be any more pain…” Revelation 21:4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Annie McCleda Hatcher, affectionately known as “Cleda,” was born on January 19, 1927, in Westfield, NC, the fifth of ten children of Rev. Roy G. and Della Hickman Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hatcher, Sr., her parents and seven siblings, George Oscar Cox, Payne Nathaniel Cox, Joe Bill Cox, Sadie Irene Hatcher, Howard Cox and Kathleen Robinson. At an early age, Annie was baptized and united with Chestnut Ridge Primitive Baptist Church where she worshipped until moving to Steelton, Pennsylvania in 1957. She remained an active church member throughout her adult life serving at The First Baptist Church of Steelton, and most recently, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. There she loved her Adult Sunday School Class and the fellowship she shared with the members of the Dorcas Missionary Circle. Annie was formerly employed by the Harrisburg Dress Factory and the Pennsylvania State Police. Later, she assisted with her husband’s business addressing administrative operations and scheduling. Her last three years were spent in residence at Manor Care Health Services, Camp Hill, PA. There she made many friends of residents, their families, staff and volunteers. She enjoyed assisting with devotions, playing word games and bingo with her friends. At eighty-nine years of age on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, Annie passed from labor to reward resting safely in the Arms of her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Saundra and Henry Hill of Harrisburg, PA; sons, James E. Hatcher, Jr., of Steelton, PA, and Anthony E. Hatcher of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Akia Hill, James Hatcher III, Tamelle Hill, Angela Henderson, Aaron Hatcher, Andrew Hill, Amber Messersmith, Savawn and Seven Martin, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Rev. Robert L. Cox, Sr., of Durham, NC; sister, Mrs. Nellie Romain Hooper of Pontiac, MI; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
