Amir Jahid Carr- Powell

Amir Jahid Carr-Powell was born July 16, 2005, in York, PA, to Jessica Carr and Augusta Powell. He graduated from Concord High School in Wilmington, DE, and worked for Little Angels in Bowie, MD. Amir was a free-spirited soul who had been studying the Islamic Culture. He loved playing football, basketball and having fun with his brothers and sisters. He loved everyone and made sure everyone knew he was in the room. Amir enjoyed playing video games with his little brothers especially his favorite one, “Call of Duty.” He also loved dancing and just being a “goofball.” Amir was a loving and devoted father to his three-month-old daughter, Ah'Zari Jream Carr. On Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Chester, PA, at nineteen years of age, Amir departed this life. He was predeceased by his brothers, Na’Gus Griggs and Augusta Griggs Jr.; sister, A’Ziyhr Carr; grandfather, Cecil Powell; and great-great-grandfather, Denes A. Chilton. Amir’s memory will live on through his mother, Jessica Carr (Jamon Simmons) of York PA; father, Augusta Powell (Monik Johnson) of Cleveland, OH; the love-of-his-life, Le'Niyah Fleming of Wilmington, DE; daughter, Ah'Zari Jream Carr-Powell of MD; sisters, A'Jiah Carr-Powell, A'Laysiah Carr-Powell and A'Myrical Simmons, all of York, PA, Shayra Griggs of Cleveland, OH, and Justice Griggs of TX; brothers, Flair Griggs, Amijh Carr, Akaih Carr and A'Sai Carr, all of York, PA, Tyree Griggs of Cleveland, OH, and Gino Griggs of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandmothers, Jaceita Chilton of York, PA and Frances Talley of Cleveland, OH; grandfather, Vincent Carr II (Lisa Lang) of York, PA; great-grandmother, Paulette Hawkins of York, PA; great-grandfathers, Frank Hawkins and Vincent Carr; great-great-grandmother, Bernice "Nana" Chilton; godparents, Victoria and Terence Romey, all of York, PA; aunts, Brandy Carr and Caprece Kline, both of York, PA; uncles, Garad Howze, Vincent Carr III, Christian Carr and Anthony Kidd, all of York, PA; great-great-aunt, Hattie Galloway of MD; favorite cousins, JeanPierre Larue and Markai Rankins of York, PA; best friends, Sherron Elam-Coursey and Morgan Barnhart of Wilmington, DE; closest friend, Jaiden Scott of Wilmington, DE; a host of aunts and uncles in Cleveland, OH, and Detroit, MI; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
