    Mrs. Valerie Denise Moore Patterson

    May 15, 1956 - June 23, 2019

Valerie Denise Moore Patterson, daughter of Delores Moore and the late Edgar Lee Moore Jr., was born Tuesday, May 15, 1956, in Harrisburg, PA. Educated in the Harrisburg School District, Valerie graduated from Harrisburg High, Class of 1974. Val was the first of her siblings to give her life to Christ and be baptized. Even though she couldn’t be at church, she always prayed and trusted in the Lord. Most recently, she started attending Bible study at Bride of Jesus Christ, Inc. Val was deeply devoted to her family, and she especially loved spending time with her daughters and grandkids. She would occasionally take the grandkids out individually so she could give them her personal attention and love. You could always count on her for whatever you needed. Christmas was her extra-special time of year. She received so much pleasure and joy in being with the whole family watching the excitement on everyone’s face as they opened the gifts she gave. Val was a social butterfly with a patented laugh that could be heard blocks away. She loved working at Al’s Café, playing darts, going out to eat, going to the casino and cheering for her Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed listening to old-school music, Frankie Beverly, Luther, Whispers, Lakeside, as well as new school, Trey Songs, Charlie Wilson and Ludacris. She had a library of movies and enjoyed watching the TV episodes of Laverne and Shirley, Golden Girls and the Cosby Show. At sixty-three years of age, while at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA, on Sunday, June 23, 2019, Val exchanged mortality for immortality joining in eternal life her father and her husband, Theodore Patterson. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish many irreplaceable memories: her mother, Delores Moore; daughters, Tomeka Moore-Martin, Tynisha Moore-Martin; adopted son, Danny “Jersey” Aviles; brothers, Keith Moore (Ruth), Stephen Moore (Bonita), Lionel Moore; sisters, Joyce Moore, Tanita Brockenbrough (David); grandsons, Terrance and Trevon Mackey; granddaughters, Tymiah Mackey and Te`asia Moore-Martin; other family members and friends. Giving God all Glory, Honor and Praise, The Family
