    Mrs. Pearl Louise Hicks

    March 10, 1931 - April 22, 2020

    Pearl Louise Hicks, daughter of the late James Baltimore and the late Eleanor Baltimore, was born March 10, 1931 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Pearl received her formal education in the Harrisburg public schools. On June 28, 1950, Pearl was united in holy matrimony to William Hicks Jr. Their union was blessed with one daughter and four sons. “Pearly Mae,” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, loved taking care of others. Pearl owned and operated Pearl’s Family Daycare. She also worked for the Harrisburg State Hospital and the Jewish Nursing Home before retiring as a Personal Care Assistant to the Javitz Family. In her leisure, Pearl enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, shopping, watching soap operas and talking on the telephone. Pearl was also a faithful member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church until she became ill. On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA, Pearl transitioned into eternal life at the age of eighty-nine. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, William Hicks Jr.; and two siblings, Robert “Bobby” Baltimore and William Nordt. Pearl leaves to celebrate her life and cherish loving memories her sons: Robert “Book” Jackson, William Nathaniel Hicks Sr., Kevin Eugene Hicks Sr. and Eric “Rick” Hicks Sr., all of Harrisburg, PA, and one daughter, Joani Hicks of Enola, PA. Pearl also is survived by sisters, Dorothy Mae Williams of Oberlin, PA, Rev. Dr. Willamae Williams of Pensacola, FL.; two God-daughters, Gina Brooks of Columbia, MD., Thelma Clark of Harrisburg, PA; thirteen grandchildren, Robert Jackson, Kim Jackson, Erica Tomlinson, Darnell Hicks Sr., Tamara Gregory of Atlanta, GA, Dwayne Walker of Baltimore, MD, Eric Hicks Jr., Kevin Hicks Jr. , William Hicks, Malcolm Hicks, Autumn Vaughn, Mekhi Hicks and Blake Hicks; seventeen great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
