Ernest Davis Sr., son of the late Leroy B. Davis Sr. and the late Martha (Tryman) Davis, was born Thursday, August 25, 1949, in Harrisburg, PA. Educated in the Harrisburg School District, Ernie graduated from John Harris High School. He was employed by Jazzland Enterprise with twenty-two years of faithful service, and he also retired from Vartan Janitorial Service doing what he loved best. Leisurely, Ernie enjoyed listening to his favorite “Oldies” music; being with family and friends; and win-or-lose, he was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Eagles faithfully and eagerly cheering for his team. Always laughing, telling jokes and busting on anyone and everyone, Ernie was a pleasure to be around and made you feel right at home. On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, while at this Harrisburg home, Ernie departed this life at seventy-two years of age. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Loretta Waters, Shirley Tryman , Louise Hunter; brothers, Leroy Davis Jr. “Sonny,” Kenneth Davis “Skebo;” grandson, Elijah Davis; and granddaughter, Kaliah Zana Dearing. Many special memories will be cherished by his children, Daryl Brown (Tonya) of Texas, Ernie Davis Jr. (Tori), Kavon Davis, Dwight Bartow (Barbara), all of Harrisburg, PA, and Boise Johnson of York, PA; siblings, Elizabeth Williams, Nathaniel Davis (Vivian), Ernestine Dennis (Lloyd), all of Harrisburg; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
