Four words that reflect our “Annie:” Family, Loving, Serving and Forgiving! On September 13, 1938, Ms. Barbara Ann “Annie” Coleman was born to her parents, Robert Lee Coleman and Mildred Iola (Fields) Coleman, at their home in Steelton, PA. As a child, she learned to enjoy physical activities, competing with the boys in sports and play. Her love of sports remained with her throughout her life, and anyone could hear her passion and cheers as she watched the games. When this joyous girl evolved into a young lady, femininity and fashion became her new brand. This love of fashion, art, and decorating remained a personal and social joy of hers until the end. As a child born during the American Segregation Era, Ms. Barbara completed her 8th grade education at the Hygienic School for Colored Children, and then went on to receive additional education at the integrated Steelton High School, both in Steelton, PA. Work was never a stranger or unwelcomed burden to Ms. Barbara. As a teenager, she worked preparing food for her father’s business, Lee Coleman’s Diner/Tavern, at the corner of Franklin and Meyers Streets in Steelton, PA. She later went on to find her joy in serving and caring for others at the Harrisburg State Hospital for the mentally ill and disabled in Harrisburg, PA. Ms. Barbara retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Steelton, PA, as a QA Pipe Sample Cutter Operator. Throughout her life, she always expressed that her most loved possessions were children, family, and friends. During this journey, Ms. Barbara found and fell in love with the Jehovah’s Witnesses Faith where she remained a loyal and dedicated servant of the Lord. She found a spiritual family that provided her the needed acceptance, support, and fellowship that allowed her to face the many fears to explore and reach her spiritual peak. Her faith provided the certainty needed to be at peace as she moved from this life into a Deep Sleep; awaiting her resurrection into the promised paradise. Ms. Barbara Ann (Coleman) Wilkerson, a resident of Harrisburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 06, 2021, at Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill, PA, at eighty-two years of age. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tyrone Wilkerson on May 27, 2018; and her grandson, Truth Jireh Avila on August 9, 1998. Ms. Barbara leaves to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories her son, Troy L. Wilkerson, Gwynn Oak, MD; daughter, Tricia A. Wilkerson, Mechanicsburg, PA; sister, Roberta M.
