Annie Lee Dunston Perry was born on September 9, 1928 in Franklinton, North Carolina, to the late Percy Dunston and Fannie Griffin Dunston. At an early age, Annie accepted Christ and joined the United Christian Church where she attended until she graduated from Albion Academy, Franklinton, North Carolina. After graduation, she relocated to Stamford, Connecticut, and to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was employed by Pennsylvania’s Air Filter Manufacturing where she retired after thirty years of service. After retirement, Annie enjoyed volunteering at the “Uptown Senior Center,” which in 1992 became the Heinz-Menaker Senior Center. Annie Lee Perry was the undisputed “walking champion” and designated “bingo caller” year-end and year-out. She was well known for the outstanding service and compassion she provided to all. Her music ministry will long be remembered. Annie peacefully departed this life on November 23, 2021 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after an extended illness. She fought the good fight and was of good cheer until the end. Annie was preceded in death by brothers, William Dunston and James Mack Dunston. Annie leaves to forever cherish her memory: her niece, Mary Elizabeth Williams (Andre) of Durham, North Carolina; two great-nephews, Jamaal Williams (Vilmarie) and Marlon Williams (Sharece) of Cary, North Carolina; two great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew. Furthermore, she will be mourned and fondly remembered by cousins, Betty Ann Askew, Earline Green, Francine Solomon and Rosemary Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a host of loving cousins, friends and neighbors, Ms. Doris Rexroth, Ms. Renee Napper, et al will long remember and cherish “THE QUEEN OF SIXTH STREET” of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
