Andrew Paakeow Awotwi “The most important mark I will leave on this world is my son.” – Sarah Shahi Andrew Paakeow Awotwi was born to his loving parents, Desmond and Patricia Awotwi, on February 27, 1986, in Harrisburg, PA. He passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2021. Andrew or “Drew”, as he was called by family and friends, was a curious child and found great joy in learning new things. Educated through the Harrisburg School District, he was a 2004 graduate of Harrisburg High School where he was active in band, wrestling and baseball. Andrew was a member of Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church. He enjoyed reading especially James Patterson’s Alex Cross books. He also liked playing video games, boxing and spending time with his family and friends. The most important thing in his life was his children, Airiyanna and Samir, who he loved dearly. He was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where he worked until his passing. Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy and Margaret Hinton, Samuel Awotwi and Elizabeth Warmann; his father, Desmond E. Awotwi; and his nephew, Dontae-Devahn Winfield. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Airiyanna Awotwi and Samir Awotwi; his mother, Patricia Awotwi; his siblings, Samuel (Mariam), Jermaine Shelton, MaDonna Awotwi; Godbrother, Jason Pierce (Neena); and a host of family and friends. Due to the spread of Covid and the current numbers in the area, his life will be celebrated in a private service for the family. A public memorial will be held on his birthday.
